NATURAL WEATHERING
ECO-DECKING is incredibly colourfast, however it is not 100% colourfast. Any product exposed to our harsh climate will suffer some form of colour degradation over time.
ECO-DECKING is made of recycled plastic and recycled wood. The plastic allows us to create the strong profiles and ability to retain colour, the wood forms part of the soft aesthetic and feel. Because of its wood content, natural colour shifts do occur in ECO-DECKING products. Up to 12 to 16 weeks of exposure to sunlight and rain are typically required for ECO-DECKING to achieve its consistent colour. Naturally the initial weathering process is completely harmless to ECO-DECKING products and does not affect their durability at all.
There may be very slight variances between different production runs of ECO-DECKING as we use recycled materials. Your deck may be very slightly different from your initial sample as they most probably were made at different times. We have systems in place to try and ensure colour consistency.
The weathering process may be accelerated in dry areas by periodically wetting down the deck using a garden hose. Areas in direct shade, or components installed vertically such as fascia board a posts etc, may take considerably longer to fade.
